Meet Dr. Conny
I believe that orthodontics holds a special place in the dental profession: working with patients and families to achieve a wonderful smile, one that will last a lifetime, is extremely rewarding. It is fulfilling to see kids grow up, and to help adults achieve a smile they’ve long wanted, and watch how each person’s self-esteem strengthens during treatment.
My patients are important to me personally, and I appreciate being able to create smiles that each is proud to share. I also appreciate how my profession allows me to improve individuals’ oral health and increase their comfort with their appearance, all by straightening their teeth!
Education and Experience
I was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended Gordon Bell High School. My Bachelor of Science was obtained at the University of Manitoba, followed by my Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1992.
I practiced general dentistry in Winnipeg for seven years, then returned to school for my three-year specialty program in orthodontics. In 2002, the University of Western Ontario awarded my Master of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics.
Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education
Orthodontics, like all areas of healthcare, is constantly advancing. Research leads to innovations in technology, technique, and materials, all of which can improve the patient experience and results. It is crucial for me to keep up with the latest changes in order to provide patients with the high-quality treatment and results they deserve.
I am an active member of the:
- Canadian Dental Association
- Manitoba Dental Association, member of the continuing education committee
- Ontario Association of Orthodontists
- Manitoba Orthodontic Society
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, former Manitoba director
Through these organizations, I have access to numerous meetings, seminars, lectures, and other avenues to stay at the forefront of developments in orthodontics. Additionally, I am a part-time clinical instructor in graduate orthodontics at the University of Manitoba, helping to educate future orthodontists.
Beyond the Office
I live just outside of Winnipeg’s city limits, in the municipality of Headingley, with my family. My wife Maria and I married in 1994 and we have two children, a son and a daughter, who are both young adults.
Time with my family and friends is a priority when I’m not in the office, along with activities with the Greek community. I also enjoy travel, the great outdoors, and tending to my salt-water fish and coral tanks.
